In order to enhance arbitrators’ understanding and judgment of commercial contract in arbitration procedure, CIETAC South China Sub-Commission and CMAC South China Sub-Commission jointly held “Contract Interpretation, Its Theory, Method and Practice in Arbitration” Salon in Shenzhen. The Salon invited Professor LIU Kaixiang as speaker, and over 40 participants including CIETAC/CMAC arbitrators in Shenzhen, lawyers and legal professionals attended the Salon. Via a Wechat live video channel provided by CIETAC, many legal professionals who cannot attend the Salon in person listened to the Salon at home.

Upon typical issues of contract interpretation, Professor LIU delivered the lecture from five aspects, including relevance and difference between contract interpretation and other related concepts, the character of contract interpretation, the subject of contract interpretation, the meaning of contract interpretation and the method and principle of contract interpretation. As a famous legal academic person and professional arbitrator, Professor LIU has rich experience on the law theory and practice of law. In the lecture, Professor LIU combined the theory and real cases to guide listeners to have a deep thinking on law. At the end of the Salon, Professor LIU interacted with listeners and gave his own opinions to listeners’ questions. The Salon ended in an active atmosphere.
